This weeks update 8th November 2011

Hello All,

It was another busy day at the Stall on Monday.  There was a Christmas table that did really well too - we had spent a few days, making and packaging items to sell so very pleased it went well.  A massive well done and thank you to everyone who was working and helping up there and of course to everybody who came up and supported us by buying items.  We couldn't do it without any of you!!

Wednesday was a bit quieter up at the stall - I think due to it being a nice day and people zipping off to the beach :)  Keep spreading the news that we are now there 2 days a week.  Thanks again to everyone who came up.

There is a new member to the team called Dean who will be helping on books - Initially he came to see if he could help with kennels or dog walking but after explaining what we do he seems happy to help up at the stall.  Welcome to the team Dean :)

Animals Update:

Yet another super busy week with the animals...

Cara the kitten with extra toes and missing bones has been to the specialist.  They are completely intrigued as they have never seen a case like this before.  The new x-ray shows although she has 4 extra toes on one foot she actually has the bones to support 3 of them.  This new x-ray has also shown as well as the part of bone missing in her fore arm she doesn't have an elbow either.  They have said the options are endless for her treatment as they don't know what the best option is yet but she will go back again next week.  They are so pleased with how strong she is, her spirit and her weight.  She is a happy kitten that plays, climbs, jumps and doesn't let anything hold her back.  Barney is her dad and adores her.

Amber, Jacob and Ralph who we are fostering until January are still unwell.  They are now in quarantine, on tablets and we hope to see improvements soon.  As this point we still cannot take any more kittens and we are desperate for a foster home for another kitten - if you know anybody that can help please speak to me or mum.

I'm so pleased to say that Toby the dog rescued by Jan and Tony has been offered a wonderful home in the UK.  He will travel to the UK on 10th January.  We will hopefully be able to take him out of the kennels in early December so he can stay with extra special lady who will give him some training before he goes.  He is the happiest dog and such a pleasure to be with, he love snuggles and is very gentle.

Alegria is a kitten that had been living at the vets - She has settled in to her home with Sue really well.

We tried to re-home a dog named Lady this week.  Unfortunately after 2 days she did escape but luckily the following day turned back up at her foster home.  They will now be keeping her so a happy ending.

Poppet who has been on the website has also been adopted.  After Carol and her husband visited the stall on Monday they made arrangements to go and see her and fell in love - Another successful re-homing.

We have rescued a little kitten called Rosie who has already been adopted to the UK.  Again she will be travelling to the UK in January but we are desperate for a foster home for her.

The Beagles are arriving on tuesday.  We have had a few donations and will make a donation from LPF too.  We can't wait to meet them all but can you imagine check in at the airport with them all haha.

Events update:

We have started collecting Raffle prizes for our Christmas Raffle on the 7th December.  If you know anyone or have anything that you would like to donate please let me know.  Please start sweet talking your beauty salons and your favourite bars and restaurants for vouchers.  Any wine, chocolates, spirits or anything else you can think of would be great!!  We have done quite a few Tombolas recently so we will struggle for prizes.

We will be attending a Christmas Fayre on the 10th December down in Campoverde.  Again we will need any prizes or Christmas items that you have spare :)

We are also attending an event on the 11th December down in Campoverde.

Tony is still in need of items for the Charity Auction on the 7th December, the day of the LPF Lunch and Raffle.  Again if you have anything you would like to Auction please speak with Tony at the stall on a Monday or Wednesday.  They need lots of items so please get in contact - we would love this to be a great 1st Auction so people will come back for the next one :)

LPF Christmas Evening Meal and Entertainment is on the 15th December.  It is booked at Bocados and I now have the 3 course menu which I will be sending round this week.  It is 16.00 euros per person (inc 1/2 btl wine) and Bocados will be donating 2.00 euros per person attending towards LPF.  We have booked the wonderfully talented Celena Deans and we will be holding a raffle on the night too.  If you would like a table booked please contact me or you can book directly with Bocados by calling tel no 966733060.

So I think that's it for now but as always if I have missed anything please let me know.  Have a good weekend and see you on monday.

Marie xx
